Valentino Italy Sustainable Mattress Collection

Four mattresses. Four problems the bedding industry has ignored for too long. Each one starts with the ticking, the fabric that wraps the mattress and touches your guest every night, made by BOYTEKS in Europe from materials that would surprise most people.

BioCool Mattress

Made from sugar cane.

The problem. Most mattress fabrics are made from petroleum. Oil comes out of the ground, gets turned into yarn, and ends up on a bed. Then there's the heat. Sri Lanka is hot, guests crank the air conditioning to 18 degrees, and the electricity bill climbs every night of the year.

The solution. BioCool ticking is woven from biopolyethylene yarns made from sugar cane, a plant that grows back every season. Less petroleum in the raw material means lower CO₂ and greenhouse gas emissions. And the fabric gives a natural feeling of coolness the moment you lie down. That cool touch is permanent. It doesn't wash out.

“The bed is the next step, and it's the one guests spend eight hours on.”

Why hotels choose it. A cooler sleeping surface is something guests notice in the first five seconds. If a guest feels comfortable with the AC a degree or two higher, that's a saving you feel every single night.

Repreve Mattress

Made from recycled plastic bottles.

The problem. A plastic bottle takes around 400 years to break down in nature, and only about 15% of the world's bottles get recycled. At least 8.8 million tonnes of plastic go into the oceans every year. Walk along the beach at Unawatuna after the monsoon and you'll see where some of it ends up.

The solution. The ticking is made with Repreve, the world's leading recycled performance fibre, made from 100% recycled materials, including bottles collected before they reach the sea. Compared to making new polyester, Repreve reduces energy use by 45%, greenhouse gas emissions by 30% and water use by about 20%. Bottles that would have sat in a landfill or floated in the Indian Ocean become the fabric under your guest's sheets.

Why hotels choose it. It's the easiest sustainability story to tell. Guests understand plastic bottles. Show them a mattress made from them and the conversation starts itself.

Tencel Mattress

Made from wood pulp.

The problem. Hotel mattresses work hard. Humid nights, heavy use, guests who sweat. A fabric that traps heat and moisture becomes a home for bacteria and wears out early. And most "soft" fabrics get their softness from chemical treatments that fade after a few months.

The solution. Tencel fibres come from wood harvested from certified, controlled forests. The pulp is turned into fibre in a closed process that recycles water and recovers more than 99% of the solvent. The ticking breathes well, is naturally unfavourable to bacterial growth, supports the body's own temperature regulation, and is soft because of the fibre itself. Not a coating. So the softness lasts.

Why hotels choose it. For properties in humid coastal areas, breathability isn't a luxury. It decides how fresh a room feels and how long a mattress lasts.

Vegan Mattress

Made from plant based fibres. Nothing from animals.

The problem. Plenty of bedding still contains animal derived materials like wool, silk and cashmere blends, and many fabrics are tested on animals along the way. More and more travellers care about this. Vegan guests often check what they're sleeping on, and most hotels have no answer.

The solution. The Vegan ticking is developed with natural threads and plant based fibres, with no animal derived materials anywhere in the process and no animal testing. It carries the V-Label certification from the European Vegetarian Union, so it's not just a claim on a brochure. It's independently certified.

Why hotels choose it. It gives you something real to put on your website and booking listings: certified vegan bedding. For wellness resorts, Ayurveda retreats and eco lodges, that fits perfectly with what your guests already came for.

One collection. A better night for the planet.

Every hotel has already done the easy parts. Solar panels. Refill stations. Towel reuse cards. The bed is the next step, and it's the one guests spend eight hours on.

Choose the mattress that fits your property. Or mix them across room categories. Lie on all four and decide for yourself.
